Ramsbury FC put in a spirited performance against Laverstock and Ford Reserves in a 5-1 defeat in the second round of the Wiltshire Cup.

Half time saw F&L Reserves 2-0 up with slick passing and quick transition and cover play being the difference. However, Ramsbury FC were always in the game and it could have easily been 2-1 at half time as it was a much closer game in the closing 15 mins of the half.

The second half saw L&F score a cracking goal early on that took the game away from Ramsbury FC, but at 3-0 down Ramsbury FC played their best football with quicker passing and getting the ball behind the L&F defence. There were two clear chances for Skips and Harry and it really should have been 3-2.

Ramsbury FC were pressing well but the risky strategy caught them out as F&L scored again with a great counter attack to make it 4-0.

Ramsbury never gave up and Nathan and Ali were a real handful and a couple of Zac free kicks threatened to reduce the deficit. But it was a raking pass from Mikey G at right back that caught out the F&L defence and saw Rob on hand to smash the ball home to make it 4-1.

Ramsbury continued to press and again went close to making it 4-2, but a late penalty saw F&L score to make it 5-1 and the game ended shortly after.

A great game that was closer than the score line would suggest and the difference was clinical finishing and a quicker passing and transition that gave F&L the edge. 5-1 flattered the higher level opposition and Ramsbury FC can be proud of putting in a great performance. Player of the match went to Jonah and Mikey G got the SoS for the pen.

Good effort all round and F&L hosted us really well afterwards in their Clubhouse.
