Ramsbury FC U12s continued their good form with a comprehensive win over local rivals Hungerford Town FC U12s Blue.

Although a 6-0 score, Hungerford FC U12s were unlucky to not go ahead early on with some really good chances and their team battled hard throughout the match and were a credit to their coaches and supporters.

Ramsbury FC U12s, without their recognised goal keeper, battled equally hard but were just much more clinical. The stand in keepers were excellent and supported by the excellent back three of Oscar, Max and George with George making some fantastic last ditch clearances and Max some well timed and vital tackles. However, the star of the show was Dylan in midfield who was a pocket dynamo and fully of running and vision who made some excellent passes to create scoring opportunities – he deservedly got player of the match!

Scorers were Luca and Will P, who got two each, with Henry and Guy adding to the total. However, this was not all about the scorers as it was a complete team performance with all of the team playing together and playing for each other – brilliant to see!

Well done the whole team!!!

Coach Rich Gillard – Match Report

Hi All,

At one point over the weekend it felt like everything was conspiring against us and we weren’t going to be able to play our match but fortunately the pitch dried enough, the rain held off, the wind dropped from ‘tornado’ level and despite illness and injuries we had enough players.
We have always had close games against Hungerford and when we played them earlier in the season we won 3-1 but the score line was perhaps a bit flattering as there had been chances for both teams.
Today the first half was pretty even and it took us a while to get in to the game, we seemed to spend most of our time defending Hungerford corners. The balance of play felt in Hungerford’s favour but then we started to shift that balance. At the heart of that shift was our Player of the Match, Dylan. Dylan always impresses, he works incredibly hard and has adapted brilliantly to playing in a central defensive midfield position. Today he utterly excelled. He hunted the ball down relentlessly, he was everywhere, but it was his vision and passing that decimated Hungerford. His skill and composure on the ball gave him time to pick out brilliant passes and through-balls that were a joy to watch.
At half time we came in 2-0 up, 2 selfless assists from Luca setting up Guy and Henry.
Second half we were more dominant, Will P marauded forward, scoring 2 great individual goals and Luca deservedly bagged a couple of goals too with persistent runs at Hungerford’s goal.
6-0 in the end and a fantastic team performance. Great stints in goal from Will P and Henry, both showing great bravery and mobility to own their penalty areas. George B ran Dylan close for Player of the Match with another terrific game at leftback. I keep replaying his incredible clearance in my mind, as a Hungerford player bore down on goal George raced in from the side to make a last ditch clearance, brilliant!!
With 10 players, Em waited patiently before going on in the second half and she was brilliant on the left wing, lots of passing and full of running to support attacks and always getting back to defend, love to see it!
Next week we’re away at South Cerney, an early kick-off too by the look of it, 930. Please let me know if you’re not available.
See some of you Wednesday!!
