U12 football coach

Ramsbury FC U12s showed their battling qualities with a spirited 2-2 draw with RWB FC U12s Yellows on a beautiful sunny day. Coaches Rich Gillard and Adam Blanchard were especially pleased as the team came back from 2-0 down and managed this with players missing, requiring a number of players playing out of position, and then lost Guy Bolus early on to injury and who had to leave the match. The team showed great tenacity and resilience and were a credit to the coaches and parents and guardians spectating.

It was a very closely contested match where Ramsbury U12s missed a host of chances and RWB were kept out by some wonderful goal keeping by Will Buller and some stoic defending by Max and Oscar and battling midfield play by Henry, George and Harry.

But RWB U12s did score first after some sustained pressure to make it 1-0. They then added a second goal before Ramsbury U12s replied with a brilliantly taken goal by Harry Noel-Johnson on the counter attack to bravely get to the ball before the RWB keeper and put a low shot in to make it 2-1.

It should have been 2-2 straight after with Evie Fisher going ever so close from a Henry through ball and then Luca Swift shooting just wide shortly after. RWB desperately hung on to the one goal advantage and continued to battle to keep Ramsbury from getting a second goal.

Ramsbury finally got the second goal they deserved and it was Harry Noel-Johnson again who scored to claim his second goal and make it 2-2. In doing so he also won the player of the match award for his 2 goals, non stop tackling and positive attitude throughout. Well done Harry!

The match ended 2-2 and honours were even as it was when they met earlier in the season over at RWB.

A brilliant team performance by Ramsbury FC U12s and a great result having been 2-0 down. Well done the whole team for never giving up!

Also, great refereeing by Adam: fair, clear and no-nonsense! Great stuff!
