The war in Ukraine has been devastating and has caused many families to be displaced and needing support across Europe and the UK. It has been humbling to see the generosity of all nations and no more so than here in the UK and from our communities.

A number of families from Ukraine have been provided support from families in Ramsbury and the local area and have been a part of our community for some time. All families have been welcomed into the community and have been provided help and assistance, accommodation, schooling and employment and friendship. Some families will remain for a while longer whilst others have started to return home to their families and loved ones and just in time for them to celebrate Christmas.

Ramsbury FC has been fully involved with providing support to a range of charities and agencies involved with refugees; and have welcomed a number of children from Ukranian families into the Club to train and play football.

Two brothers who are soon to return home to Ukraine with their mum is Maks and Sergei. Both boys have made lots of friends in their time with Ramsbury FC and, of course, with their schools Ramsbury Primary and St John’s Marlborough. Both boys have trained and played with our U7 and U12 youth teams and will be hugely missed when they leave as they have been a real credit to their family and very popular.

Under 12s Coaches Olly Scott-Harden and Si Bartholomew were key to arranging a great send off for both boys, along with a host of parents and teachers, and made sure both Maks and Sergei would not forget their time in our community and their time with Ramsbury FC.

It was a great turn out in the Bell pub Ramsbury and both boys were kitted out with personalised kit, strips, beanies, scarf and footballs.

We wish Maks and Sergei and their mum all the very best and a safe return to their family and they both know that they will always be a part of Ramsbury FC.
