Ramsbury FC win 5-2 against Moredon FC in the League!

A rampant Ramsbury FC put 5 past Moredon FC in a match that was played on 3g because Moredon’s pitches were unplayable. However, that did stop Ramsbury who produced a great result even with an injury hit reduced side!

El Tel Seano provided the following match report and also managed a cameo performance at the ripe old age of 78….and in doing so defies medical science and also football legend in being a player-manager that has seen more impossible action than Tom Cruise and with more grey hair than Dumbledore’s beard!

Apparently, El Tel Seano missed the first goal as someone…lets just say Rob…or Skips maybe…floated the ball over the Moredon defence for Nathan to run on to and smash it in to make it 1-0. A thing of real quality apparently.

Seano then did see young boy Joe score an absolute beauty as left wing back as he rinsed the Moredon right back and then blasted the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0. It was all going well despite the Moredon lino’s attempt to wave his flag like it was the finish to a 1960s Grand Prix win (Seano was there…apparently?) to say it was offside…until he was reminded of the rules of the game by the Referee! The lino then threw down the flag and an equally incompetent Moredon sub took up the lino duty! Luckily the Ref was a good one and thankfully stuck to making the key decisions.

Joe was on a role and from a superb corner by Rob headed in another absolute beauty to make it 3-0 before half time. Ash did have to make some good saves and the defence and midfield were are times tested, but Ramsbury were easily the better side.

In the second half Moredon came out all guns blazing and really went for it with more players forward in a an aggressive high line. Ramsbury with held the pressure and a quick burst down the wing saw Nathan get fouled and up stepped Rob and does what Rob does best with a curler of a free kick that the keeper got a lard hand on to it to help it into the top corner to make it 4-0…..Ramsbury were cruising!

However, a bit of complacency set in and Moredon kept the pressure up and got a corner….and true to form….Ramsbury don’t protect the goal….or communicate…and a mix up between Ash and Joe sees Joe head into his own net to make it 4-1….not the kid of hat trick Joe would have wanted and El Tel Seano is furious and spitting feathers in his well worn sheepskin…if that is really a thing?

Ramsbury woke up a bit and Prez and Skips were dominating midfield with Nathan a menace up front and Jake taking the mickey out of the Moredon who was threatening to snap him in two….but Jake was safe as the left back couldn’t count that high….and Jake was just too good…..and everyone was distracted by George showing off his 1990s Hadji skills to show Ellis that his Dad still has it….with a terrific side pass by Nathan to side foot into the net to make it 5-1 and maintain a 4 goal lead. Ellis was ecstatic…George was relieved and the crowd looked on in amazement…apparently!

Moredon did get another as their forwards realised what they were on the pitch for and after some good play forced a great save by Ash that looked to be going out but was kept in by Moredon past Chris’s outstretched leg and a sliding Adam could not prevent their no10 from slotting it in to make it 5-2 with 10 minutes to go.

George was playing like Hadji’s grandad doing walking football, so El Tel Seano dropped the sheepskin and dons his no 17 shirt and slips seamlessly into his 1997 CDM role for a majestic 10 minute cameo that had him dreaming if he kept going to 100 he would get a card from the King!?…Apparently!!!!

The game was played out and Saw Ramsbury take all 3 points in a well fought win!

For those not mentioned…I apologise but take it up with the gaffer as it is his report. No SoS and I guess Joe was MoM for his 3 goals!!!!

No game next week and just training….and hopefully George will have recovered enough to be able to walk as quick as El Tel Seano can run!!

Ramsbury FC Youth Player of the Year gets the VIP Treatment at Old Trafford!

Ramsbury FC Youth Player of the Year gets the VIP Treatment at Old Trafford!

Ramsbury FC Player of the Year and recipient of the Oli Kimber Cup for the 2021-2022 was Euan Mulholland of the U17s/U18s squad. Euan and 3 other players had been with the Club for over 10 years and in that time had played most games and nearly all tournaments and were key players of the Ramsbury U16s team that remained unbeaten and winners of the Mid Wilts U16s Red League.

Euan during his time with Ramsbury FC was always at training and matches when he could be, completed his Duke of Edinburgh Award and coached the U6s and U7s as part of his volunteering on top of his training and throughout his time was polite, helpful and interested in developing as a footballer. He was one of only four Ramsbury FC youth players to successfully migrate to the Ramsbury FC Senior squad. He fully deserved being awarded the Oli Kimber Cup and VIP tickets for Euan and his Dad Stephen to see Manchester United play West Ham at Old Trafford. The tickets were kindly donated by Al Collis who was our U6s lead Coach last year.

Here are the pictures of Euan at Old Trafford with his dad and with Louis Miah, son of the Under 10 Whites Coach Bash Miah, who both accompanied Euan and Stephen in the VIP lounge and at the match and who are huge United fans. The tickets for Louis and Bash were again courtesy of Al Collis. It was a memorable 1-0 win for United and Euan got to visit the Theatre of Dreams and see Ronaldo play and Marcus Rashford score his 100th Premier League goal. What a day!

Euan is a great lad and a real credit to his mum and dad and is an example to all the young players at Ramsbury FC and fully deserved his day out at Old Trafford….it is also a good job he is a United fan and that he didn’t elect to take our Chair Andy Knowles with him as his old coach….as he is a lifelong Liverpool fan!!!

A big thank you to all at Ramsbury FC for making this happen and to Al Collis for the tickets and the VIP package and to our Chair Andy Knowles for making sure everything went smoothly.

Ramsbury FC U17s Final Game & Player Awards for 2022

It was an end of an era as the Ramsbury FC U17s ended 10 years of youth football with a friendly match against Ramsbury FC seniors on Fathers Day.

There was a pre-match presentation to the 4 players who have been in the team throughout the 10 years have played for one club only: Noah Greenway, Seb Symon, Euan Mulholland and Freddie Knowles who have played together since U8s – a huge achievement!!!

Following a final team photo the friendly match saw an entertaining game conclude 4-2 with some superb goals that included a first class penalty by George and a superb free kick by Zac that rattled the cross bar! There was a decent crowd and the football played was very even as both sides included senior and U17 players and in the first half included Seb, Zac and Jon Symon all playing on the same side….2 of the 3 Symon boys were much better that the out of date one!!!!!!!

The team awards were presented at the end of the match with Evan winning most improved, Tom winning Supporters and Players Player and Noah winning Managers Player of the year! Well done to all.

A BBQ and a few drinks followed with some speeches and gifts; and Freddie won a special award from Geoff that I am sure he will treasure for ever!

This is an end of an era and the U17s are the first Ramsbury FC U17s team in over 10 years to stay the course, finish the season and have players who have been all the way through from junior football through to the seniors. A lot of credit for this must go to Andy and Geoff as the coaches, but importantly to the players themselves and also to all the parents and guardians and grand parents for their commitment to Ramsbury FC and for supporting the players to play football as it should be played and in the right spirit and in the right way.

It is a real shame the team will fold, but on a positive note many of the players will continue their football and may join the senior squad and/or will hopefully want to help coach the juniors sides or return after college and university to continue to be part of Ramsbury FC. Sean, the senior coach, gave a generous offer to join the senior squad and stated that he was impressed by many of the the U17s and that they had the ability to make the transition. Great stuff!

Finally, it was a great day, a great game of football and a lot of great people to come and support and be involved. All the very best to you all and thank you so much for all the help with the BBQ and cleaning up as it was much appreciated.

Ramsbury FC donate footballs, strips and boots to Ukraine refugee children

Ramsbury FC donate footballs, strips and football boots in support of Ukraine refugee children.

Ramsbury FC collected team strips, footballs and football boots to donate to Ukraine refugee children re-located to the UK.

Ramsbury FC U17s Coach Geoff Pratt, pictured with his son Ben who plays in the U17s squad and Ant Atkinson from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, and a parent in the U16s team, responded to a request for donations of football kit to support children who have been re-located to the UK due to the war in Ukraine.

The response was instant and good quality football boots, Ramsbury FC strips and a number of training balls were quickly handed to Ant Atkinson of the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust in support of this worthy cause.

It is planned to do more in the near future and hopefully provide more kit and support to those children that need it.

Ramsbury FC has previously supported ATE, a local registered charity that supports communities living in a remote area of Ghana in Africa, by  donating strips and boots and will look to continue to support similar charities that provide much-needed support to families and children in difficult circumstances. You can learn more about Action Through Enterprise (ATE) here: ATE’s Story | ATE Ghana

Ramsbury FC are proud to support ATE and also support the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and their aim in creating a sustainable future for our communities and the animals and people within them. Learn more about the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust here: Wiltshire Wildlife Trust
