Match Report v Bath FC U17s 13 Mar 22

A great result against a team ahead of us in the league and thankfully the pitch just about held up! Refs never get any thanks for what is a difficult job.....especially with 26 seventeen year olds in attendance! So thanks Geoff for taking the whistle....I'll get the new glasses soon🤣!

A great start to the game which saw Bath take some early control, though we looked comfortable, however a lack of concentration resulted in them taking the lead! That was the kick up the backside we needed and the squad responded. With Tom in goal and captain, we had Evan, Josh, Henry and Harry at the back, Fred, Noah, Euan and Byron in midfield and George in the pocket and Ben up front. Reece, Ben W, Jai and Josh DS starting on the bench and special thanks in the 1st half for Oli running the line.

Our pressure started to pay off and we then drew level through a great strike from outside the box by Fred, 1-1. We then applied more and more pressure, with Ben P getting out 2nd goal having been put through and sliding the ball home, 2-1. The 3rd goal again came from Ben P, having discovered his confidence, he saw an opportunity at the top of the box and took his chance.....curling in a great finish and with that earned the Man of the Match award, well.played.

Making some changes with Jai on, Reece in and Josh DS, we continued to press and from the next corner, Jai met a great delivery and took us 4-1 up. George bundled in the 5th after a good drive. Free kick to Ramsbury as we drove forward, just outside the box.....Jai, Fred and Josh DS took charge, Jai took and scored (I thought it would go to row a!!), great strike! Goal 7 came from a fumble from their keeper and Noah pounced on the chance.....forwards opportunity well taken. It was the Half-time!!

2nd half, Oli B came on and Fred took the flag so thanks, Ben W on in the 2nd half and a few swaps and changes through the half, which saw Reece take over from Fred later on, so again thanks to all of you that help with the line (none of you were as good as me though!).

We lost our way and little bit in the 2nd half and being 7-1 up I'm not surprise but we need to remain focused. Our 8th goal came from Oli B with a lovely finessed finish, lofting the ball over the keeper into the top left hand side of the goal. Evan got the 8th (my decision) with a header that worked the keeper, which he fumbled into the goal, great work Evan and your pace today scared their defence time after time

Our Moment of the Match was given to Ben W, for what nearly became a worldie.......seeing an opportunity when pushing forward, the ball came back out to just outside the box, he ran 30 yards to try and meet the ball and smash it on the volley to the top left hand corner!!! Sadly it didnt quite go to plan and the bowls club was at greater risk than the opposition's goal, but well done for trying and thought your fitness was good having just recovered from illness.

Well done to everyone and the result, we move on to next week where we play Bath again, so more of the same please. See you all Wednesday or next saturday.

Andy and Geoff
