Ramsbury FC U17s lose 3-1 against tough Melksham U17s side.

Although Ramsbury suffered a 3-1 loss to a well organised and talented Melksham FC U17s side, it was much closer than the score line would suggest.

Ramsbury dominated the opening play and should have had a couple of early goals. Melksham upped their play and went close but for some superb saves by Tom Mundy in goal and it was Ramsbury who took the lead with an absolute screamer of a shot by Noah Greenway on the left wing into the top right corner to make it 1-0.

An unfortunate own goal by Reece O’Neill made it 1-1 after sustained Melksham pressure and it was 1-1 at half time.

The second half saw Melksham score a very flukey second goal and then a third well worked goal to go 3-1 up. Ramsbury should have scored at least two of more of their chances to even things up, but it was not to be as they were reduced to 10 men for the final 10 minutes and the result stayed 3-1.

Player of the match was George Gibbins for his unrelenting display in midfield with moment of the match going to Tom Mundy for numerous top class saves.

A great performance by all the team that deserved more. A break for 2 weeks then its tough cup and league games against Chippenham Town FC U18s!
