Ramsbury FC U12s recorded an impressive 9-0 away against Lydiard Youth U12 Tigers to keep alive their hopes of securing the Division 2 title. After a tough couple of weeks with several injuries and niggles to key players, last week they bounced back against our bogey team, Swindon Supermarine winning 5-0 with an energetic pressing performance and some clinical 2nd half finishing.
This week we had another injured player return to fitness, and were in control from the first minute against a brave Lydiard Tigers side, who have had a tough season but never stopped trying. On a tricky sloping pitch, measuring the perfect pass wasn’t always easy but we continued to move the ball effectively stretching their defence and creating chances. A big throw from Ollie was cleverly cushion volleyed into the corner by Zach to get us started before Ollie thumped in a second, and followed this up with a clever pass to leave Zach with a comfortable second goal. Rafa and Sam added further goals, before Ollie hit a hot streak at the start of the second half with a very fast hat trick, including a fantastic header ending up with 4 goals himself. Owen scored from close range to complete the scoring.
It is tight at the top of Division 2 with Wooton Bassett U12 Blues and both sides have some tricky games to come to determine who will be crowned champions!
Whatever happens we are very proud of our amazing U12 team who have been brilliant throughout another stop-start season, and look likely to get promoted to Division 1 to really test their mettle next season.
