TEAM: Tom (C), Alex, Reece, Ben B, Hayden, Euan, Byron, Max, Sam, Scott, Fred, Kira, Barney, Dan, Oli (new triallist), Ben P.

In dreadful conditions, on a less than decent pitch, Ramsbury FC U15s comfortably defeated  a makeshift Pewsey FC U15s side who currently do not play in the League. The final score of 9-1 was emphatic, but Ramsbury did not have it all their own way as Pewsey played some great passing football and took the game to Ramsbury for the first 30-40 minutes. However, it was Ramsbury who scored first with Euan shooting from distance and catching the Pewsey keeper off guard as the ball skidded in to make it 1-0. Pewsey reacted well and scored a very good goal through their Captain as our defence was too flat and a ball over the top was too easily converted. Ramsbury composed themselves and countered immediately with Euan scoring his second with a superb assist by Kira who had replaced Byron in midfield. Ramsbury could have had more goals as Fred, Scott and Sam went close and were dangerous on the break. Ben P came on and made quite an impact by scoring two quick fire goals after great work by Max and Euan in midfield and Sam and Scott on each wing to make it 4-1. What was impressive, however, was the defending by Alex and Ben B and especially alongside Hayden and Reece at right and left back as they link well with the midfield and the flanks. The half ended 4-1 to Ramsbury.

Tom was Captain for the day and was very solid in goal and Ben B and Alex played well together in the centre and even with some rotation with Dan and a new triallist Oli, the 4-3-3 shape worked well and especially with Fred and Barney or Sam and Scott on the flanks able to make raids down the wings. This tactic worked well and Ben P got his hat trick straight after the break with a great through ball and this was followed by a fine header by Scott from a corner and another wicked corner from Byron being palmed into his own net by the Pewsey keeper who had only just replaced the Pewsey first choice keeper as he went off injured. Ramsbury were on a roll and Euan got a superb third to get his hat trick and Scott got the last goal to make it 9-1. There was some fun and games near the end as Ben P and Ben B swapped positions with Ben B missing an absolute sitter and Ben B doing really quite well in defence! Geoff was not amused and got everything straightened out before the final whistle blew.

The game was committed, end to end and huge fun and those players who sometime don’t get lots of game time got plenty today. Kira got moment of the match for her superb assist to Euan and Alex was player of the match for her headers and general excellent play. But there were two hat tricks by Euan and Ben P, a hat trick of assists by Sam, some great passing play by Reece, Byron, Oli, Hayden and Fred and some really committed play by Ben B, Max, Barney, Ben B and Scott that made this a real team win. Well done!

Still a bit to work on before our next game AWAY to Calne FC 15s and see you all at training next Saturday!

Well done to all involved and thanks for all the continued support.
