Ramsbury FC recorded their biggest win of the season with a 14-0 drubbing of Moredon FC! With a modest 4-0 half time score, Ramsbury were guilty of not converting a number of clear cut chances as they over-complicated play and were frustrated by the 9 man opposition. But the second half was a completely different game as Ramsbury turned on the style, played percentage football and made the most of a weakened opposition by rattling in ten unanswered goals. It was a slaughter!

Ramsbury, again, had too many players not available for this match and just managed a starting eleven with Ash and Sean as the two subs. The team was Fred in goal, a back three of Dan O, Chris (C) and Leigh with Harry and Arun as wing backs; Zac, Stoner and Will in the middle with Macca and Adam up front. The first half saw Harry grab 2 excellent goals, playing in his usual role as an attacking wing back, as Ramsbury exploited the space. Arun got his first goal in his first full start to give Ramsbury a quickfire 3-0 lead and look very comfortable. Although, it could have been 3-1 as Leigh’s bambi on ice clown like pirouette nearly let Moredon in to score and quite rightly earned him the shirt of shame!

Macca was rivalling Leigh for the shirt of shame with some glaring misses and the whole team struggled to play simple, effective football and make the extra two players count. Macca and Zac did hit the post and it was a cynical foul in the box that led to the fourth goal as Zac stepped up to slot it the penalty to make it 4-0. It stayed 4-0 at half time where Sean donned the trilby and sheepskin jacket and gave the team the hair dryer treatment! The only shining light were Fred in goal and the defence who kept great shape and composure….and didn’t give Mordeon a sniff of goal….apart from Leigh that is!!!!!!!

It obviously worked as Ramsbury in the second half were a team possessed. Macca finally got on the score sheet not once, twice but three times to claim a second half hat trick and one of them a subline header. Zac added another two goals to get his hat trick and Adam scored 2 more crackers with Will getting in on the action with a brilliant raid from midfield to slot in another. It was a goal fest! But the biggest cheers were when Sean, on for Macca, scored a brilliant penalty having been only on the pitch for 5 minutes making him without doubt the oldest scorer in the league since Gandalf the Grey headed in for Mordor United against the Elfs!!!!!! Brilliant goal and meaning Sean has scored in every decade since 1945…..great effort Sean!!!!

Sean thunderbolt clip

Not to be outdone, was Ash, on for Arun, and who has played less football than Pete Wheeler…..actually that’s no fair….as Ash has played a few games…..was awarded a clear pen and stepped up to smash it into the top corner….a top penalty Ash and no way for the keeper to save it!

The game ended 14-0 as Moredon subbed their keeper with no replacement as they were so fed up of him and played out the last few minutes with 8 players! The referee finally put Moredon out of their misery by blowing the final whistle as the game was a training session for Ramsbury against a poor 9 man Moredon, but importantly does see our goal difference hugely improve and earn us another vital 3 points. The teamwork, especially in the second half, was superb and Chris as Captain and Will in the centre of midfield were vocal throughout with the defence the real cornerstone of this win and were solid throughout. Man of the match went to Chris Roberts in defence – well done Chris!

Training on Tuesday 6.30-8pm and a big match against Marlborough Town next Saturday at Home with a 2pm kick off! Lets have a good showing boys!

Cheers
