Calne Tournament – Ramsbury u14 teams reach Quarter Finals

Our two U14s teams did really well in the Calne Tournament today and especially as they were drawn in exceptionally tough leagues. Geoff and Andy had Tom, Maya, Fred, Bill & Oli (on loan from U13s), Noah, Byron and Ben P (Capt) in the Ramsbury A team who drew, lost and won a game in their league that had Lydiard, Swindon Supermarine and North Swindon Lions. This was enough to get them to the Cup Quarter Finals. Unfortunately, they were drawn against Melksham Hurricanes, the tournament favourites with 3 Wilts FC Academy players, and although they put up a great fight they lost 3-0. All players were superb throughout and especially in the 2-1 win against North Swindon Lions and the very narrow 1-0 loss to Swindon Supermarine who were Div 1 Winners this season! The coaches player(s) of the tournament were Maya and Tom for their tenacity and stalwart defensive play – well done to both!

Jon had the Ramsbury 1 team (organisers chose A and 1?) with AJ, Seb, Ben B, Josh, Euan (Capt), Cam (guest player), John and Sam (hopefully new joiner). The team played Trowbridge A, Chippenham and Calne A and drew all games with Sam scoring a superb goal against Trowbridge and could and should have had 3 goals agaisnt Chippenham in the last game as we completely dominated the match.

However, not taking our chances cost us and we ended up in the Plate competition against Croft A in the quarter final. They proved too strong for us and we lost 2-0. Player of the team was Euan as Captain who never gave up, was excelent in midfield and shoud have scored with a wonder strike from 20 yards – well done Euan.

Both teams showed loads of commitment today and all coaches were very proud of both teams attitude, performances and their solidarity when supporting each other. Great day out and thank you all for supporting the team.
